About this role
We are looking for a dedicated Senior Database Administrator to support a growing team managing diverse data environments. The ideal candidate will help maintain, optimize, and support multiple database systems across the organization, ensuring reliability, performance, compliance, and scalability as the platform continues to expand. As the database operations mature and key improvements are implemented, this role will evolve to include ownership of our observability strategy with a particular focus on monitoring, alerting, and operational visibility.
This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys both deep database administration and proactive system monitoring, helping drive reliability across the entire technology platform.
What you will do
- Manage and support multiple database platforms, including SQL Server, PostgreSQL and MongoDB
- Ensure database performance, availability, and reliability across environments
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve database issues in production systems
- Implement best practices for database maintenance, backups, and recovery
- Collaborate with engineering teams to support application development and data needs
- Optimize queries and database structures for performance and scalability
- Support ongoing growth of data infrastructure as new data sources are introduced
- Design, implement, and maintain monitoring dashboards in Datadog.
- Create meaningful alerts that reduce noise and improve operational awareness.
- Define service-level indicators (SLIs), service-level objectives (SLOs), and alert thresholds.
- Develop monitoring strategies for databases, applications, infrastructure, and cloud services
- Build executive, operational, and engineering dashboards.
Required skills, abilities, and education
- Strong experience as a Database Administrator (DBA), ideally in a senior-level role
- Hands-on experience with SQL Server, PostgreSQL and MongoDB databases
- Experience working with diverse data sources and environments
- Solid understanding of database performance tuning and optimization
- Experience with backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively in a growing, fast-paced team environment
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Experience with Datadog monitoring and alerting.
- Experience designing operational dashboards and observability strategies.
- Knowledge of SRE principles and reliability engineering practices.

Prescryptive is committed to fair pay practices. The projected annual salary for this position is $155,000 to $190,000. When preparing an offer, we consider the candidate’s resume, experience, interview feedback, internal equity, and location.
