AI Engineer (backed by a16z sr)

Equity Range: .5%–1% | Base Salary: $150,000–$250,000

Sourcerer is building the world's first fully autonomous AI procurement agent for the $300B+ construction and wholesale supply industry. We’ve helped customers save up to 50% on sourcing costs and close multimillion-dollar contracts within days. Backed by a16z Speedrun, we are on a mission to modernize global trade through intelligent agent systems that handle supplier discovery, negotiation, freight, and credit; all in one.

The Role

We’re seeking a AI Engineer to join our core team and build the technical foundation of Sourcerer’s AI platform. This role combines deep technical ownership with high-level product impact, you’ll take our current models from v1 prototypes to scalable systems capable of handling dynamic agent orchestration, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), supplier ranking, and real-time negotiations.

This is a rare opportunity to be a hands-on technical founder in a high-conviction AI company solving real-world industrial challenges.

What You’ll Do

  • Architect and scale multi-agent LLM systems (e.g., tool-use chains, planner–executor loops, RAG pipelines).
  • Develop embeddings and inference models using noisy, sparse supply chain data.
  • Build and optimize negotiation and pricing models for supplier–buyer interactions.
  • Lead experimentation, benchmarking, and deployment of all AI models.
  • Collaborate with engineering to ensure AI systems are robust and production-ready.
  • Help build and mentor a world-class AI team over time.

Who You Are

  • 5+ years of experience in applied ML/AI, ideally with startup or founder-level responsibility.
  • Deep familiarity with LLMs, agent frameworks (LangChain, AutoGen, etc.), and transformer-based architectures.
  • Systems thinker who can translate research into production-grade services.
  • Excited about supply chains, logistics, and real-world applications of AI.
  • Entrepreneurial, gritty, and driven by first-principles thinking.
  • Bonus: Background in multi-agent systems, optimization, or economic modeling.

Why Join Us?

  • Own and shape the most commercially viable application of AI in industrial trade.
  • Work with a sharp, execution-focused team of engineers and industry experts.
  • Help rewrite how global trade is coordinated, automated, and optimized.
