Sourcerer is backed by a16z speedrun. We're building AI agents that autonomously source, negotiate, and manage supplier relationships across B2B marketplaces. We're looking for a Head of AI to lead our AI strategy and grow the engineering team. You'll own the intelligence layer — from prompt architecture to multi-agent orchestration — and build the team that scales it.

Responsibilities

- Define and execute the AI/ML roadmap for autonomous sourcing agents

- Own prompt engineering, model selection, and structured output pipelines across Claude and GPT APIs

- Architect multi-agent systems: supplier discovery, multi-turn negotiation, cross-platform deduplication

- Hire, mentor, and manage a small engineering team (currently 2 engineers)

- Make build-vs-buy decisions on AI infrastructure (fine-tuning, RAG, evaluation frameworks)

- Work directly with founders on product strategy and prioritization

- Establish evaluation and testing practices for non-deterministic AI outputs

Qualifications

- 5+ years in software engineering, with 2+ years focused on AI/ML or LLM applications

- Hands-on experience building with LLM APIs (Anthropic Claude, OpenAI GPT) — not just prototypes, production systems

- Prior experience at an early-stage startup (seed to Series B) or comparable high-ownership environment

- Track record of hiring and managing engineers (even small teams count)

- Strong Python skills — you can still ship code when needed

- Clear communicator who can translate AI capabilities into product decisions

Preferred

- Experience with multi-agent architectures or autonomous AI workflows

- Prompt engineering for structured outputs, multi-turn conversations, and tool use

- Familiarity with browser automation (Playwright/Puppeteer) or web scraping at scale

- Background in B2B, sourcing, supply chain, or marketplace platforms

- Experience with evaluation/observability for LLM systems (evals, tracing, cost tracking)

- AWS infrastructure experience (EC2, RDS, Terraform)
